Climate Change Champions

Young people from all over Wales entered the competition and six teenagers were chosen to be our 2010 Climate Change Champions.

To enter the competition, we asked young people to:

  • Tell us about an idea for a project they would like to complete during their year as champion; and
  • Produce a creative entry to show the importance of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen and what it means for Wales.

Six young people stood out from the crowd and were named as Champions.

They were:

  • Jenni Derrick (15), Port Talbot;
  • Sebastian Gwynedd Giraud-Jones (14), Porthmadog;
  • Cyril Nqaba Moyo (18), Brecon;
  • Rose Stevens (15), Vale of Glamorgan;
  • Nathan Sutcliffe (16), Dolgellau; and
  • Huda Zahid (17), Bangor.

The Champions spent a year working in their local communities and across Wales tackling climate change, and helping represent the views of young people at meetings of the Climate Change Commission for Wales.
