Champions 2011

Young people from all over Wales entered the 2011 competition and five teenagers were chosen to become our Climate Change Champions.

We asked young people to write a speech or presentation to tell us why they would make a good Champion. They were also asked to explain climate change and tell us about three groups of people they would like to speak to about reducing their carbon footprint.

However, five young people stood out from the crowd and became the Climate Change Champions for 2011.

They were:

  • Ellie Meopham, 15, Pembrokeshire;
  • Henri French, 16, Carmarthenshire;
  • Tom Bevan, 16, Cardiff;
  • Hannah Jewell, 16, Mold; and
  • Bronwen Davies, 15, Ebbw Vale.
The Champions spent a year working in their local communities and across Wales tackling climate change. They attended and spoke at events and helped represent the views of young people at the Climate Change Commission for Wales.
